Half & Half
In the 2003 season, Half & Half was one of several critically acclaimed productions to give the ‘old’ La Boite a splendid send off. Making the most of their last opportunity to direct and design on La Boite’s stage, the creative team of Sean Mee, Bill Haycock and David Walters put heart and soul into Daniel Keene’s strangely beautiful Half & Half. Alison Cotes wrote “… there can be no question about the sheer genius of Bill Haycock’s design and David Walters’ lighting … the design and realisation of this garden is one of the most fantastic theatrical tricks I have ever seen …”[i] Although Emma Nelms’ verdict was “somewhat half and half for this intriguing and yet frustrating work”, she considered the production “superb” and the performances of Hayden Spencer and Jason Klarwein “very powerful to the point of confronting”.[ii]
