About the Play
Mummy Loves You Betty Ann Jewel was first performed by the Sailors Home theatre in Sydney in l984 under the working title Hitler Had a Mother Too. After extensive rewriting, it was performed in 1988 by SWY Theatre in Perth. Earlier this year it was presented by La Mama in Melbourne.
About the Playwright
Suzanne Hawley is a graduate of Rusden State College in Melbourne, majoring in Drama/Dance and English for her B.Ed. Her acting credits include Young Doctors, Mother and Son, A Country Practice, Home Sweet Home for television, and On The Wallaby, A Night in the Arms of Raeleen and Pillars of Society in the theatre. Her writing credits include Concrete Places which received a Sydney Theatre Company playwriting award in 1984 and was also produced by the Canberra Theatre Company. She has written scripts for A Country Practice, All the Way and Richmond Hill and her mini-series Ring of Scorpio will soon he produced by the Nine Network. In 1986 she was Writer-in-Residence at the University of NSW.
